Edinburgh Trams 269 is now bringing a splash of colour to the city as its received new adverts for the Cobbles Tour – a bus tour around the city aimed at a family market – using a bright yellow background making sure that it stands out against the standard fleet livery. The advert was first spotted at the end of May 2022 and replaces a previous advert for Scotland. Let’s do net zero.

NET become first public transport member of Nottingham Hospitality Association

West Midlands Metro services to resume in June

It has been confirmed that passenger services on the West Midlands Metro will resume during the week commencing Sunday 5th June – but it won’t be a full service as there will only be enough trams ready to allow a service to run from Wolverhampton St George’s to Bull Street (which will once again become a temporary terminus – is it the most permanent temporary terminus of all time?). This new date sees a slight delay from the previous assurances of late May after CAF informed Midland Metro Limited that they wouldn’t be able to get enough trams fixed after all.

More trams to run in Blackpool from end of June

After what must have been the longest winter timetable in the history of the Blackpool Tramway, here will finally be an increase in frequency of trams from Sunday 26th June. This will mean trams will run every 12 minutes for most of the day instead of the current 15 minute frequency which has been in operation since the illuminations were switched off at the start of January.

In Pictures: Progress made in Wolverhampton

It seems to have been a long time coming but progress is finally being made in Wolverhampton City Centre on the short extension of the West Midlands Metro to Wolverhampton Railway Station. Further works have been underway for a little while now which has seen both the installation of overhead wires and more track ahead of completing the extension this summer.

New short-hop ticket introduced on Edinburgh Trams

For anyone travelling on Edinburgh Trams around Edinburgh Park they now have another ticket option following the introduction of the Short Hop ticket. Costing just £1 the ticket allows travel to and from any of the five stops between Gogarburn and Edinburgh Park Station.

Work starts on the Metro Flow project

Metro Flow – a scheme which will see three single track sections in South Tyneside dualled – is starting to ramp up ahead of a major three month closure later this year. The £100 million project – partially funded by the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund – will see an existing freight line upgraded and electrified boosting the capacity for an extra 24,000 customer journeys every day.

More evening running dates for the Volk’s Electric Railway

Crich to partially reopen from 25th May – but no trams will run

Its now been a week since the Office of Road Rail forced the Crich Tramway Village to close as a result of safety concerns and after initial work it has been confirmed that the museum site will be able to reopen from Wednesday 25th May. However, trams will not run – and will be unable to do so for “some weeks” – and a visit will consist of The Red Lion, Rita’s Tearooms, the shops, Eagle Press, outdoor play area and Woodland Walk and Sculpture Trail only. A reduced admission price will be in place whilst trams can’t run.

Testing the new Douglas Bay Horse Tramway layout
