This latest pictorial article heads to Manchester Metrolink on 5th September 2026. Whilst mainly concentrating on some of the recent advert liveries – and some which have been removed – we do also see the chance encounter of the first and last of the M5000s at St Peter’s Square. Photos from Reece Hughes.

Not previously reported on our news pages is the removal of the advert on 3042. Previously advertising asics the tram was spotted without its vinyls during this visit and is now back in fleet livery. This image is at Victoria with the tram on the Bury-Altrincham service.

Its not often that you get two trams with adverts coupled together but that was the case for this pairing which were on the Manchester Airport to Victoria service. Closest to us is 3110 in an advert for Foot Locker and it was joined by Starling Bank adverted tram 3101. The Footlocker advert has since been replaced by new vinyls for the Bee Network scheme offering free school trip travel.

Another recent advert to be added is this one on 3100. Its promoting various Marvel PS5 games and is seen here being pulled away from St Peter’s Square as part of a service to Ashton-under-Lyne.

Sometimes you just lucky with photos and that was the case here as the first and last of the M5000s meet at St Peter’s Square. It probably happens fairly regularly but you have to be in the right place at the right time! 3147 is on the East Didsbury service and 3001 is heading to Altrincham.
