Our journey on London Trams continues as we head towards central Croydon, with our first section of street running in front of us. The next stop will be Lebanon Road.
Ever since we started our journey at either Beckenham Junction, Elmers End or New Addington we have had very limited interaction with other traffic with just a few road crossings having to be used. But that is all about to change upon departure from Sandilands. After leaving Sandilands we have a short section of track which is still reserved but we then move onto Addiscombe Road.
Addiscombe Road is a typical suburban road with houses either side of the road and the tramway runs along the road with double track. Its now long after we move onto the road that we come to the stop at Lebanon Road. This stop has staggered platforms either side of the tracks, but that’s really the only difference to other stops with all the usual facilities seen. Both platforms do form part of the footpath alongside the road.
This is the Croydon bound platform where we see 2554 calling on its way to Wimbledon. The other platform is on the opposite side of the road behind where the photographer stands.
Then we take a look at the platform served by trams heading to Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington. 2559 is just leaving the stop on its way to Beckenham Junction and there are obviously a couple of would-be passengers who don’t wish to head that way as they remain on the platform.
