No trams ran between Addiscombe and Birkbeck, and Addiscombe and Elmers End on Tuesday 26th May and at the start of Wednesday 27th May to allow emergency repair works to take place on the overhead at Arena.
The works were needed whilst the UK was sweltering under record-breaking May temperatures, but Transport for London gave no indication of what had caused the damage to the overhead which needed repairing.
During the disruption trams ran:
- New Addington to West Croydon
- Wimbledon to Addiscombe
- Birkbeck to Beckenham Junction
Passengers wishing to travel between Addiscombe and either Elmers End or Birkbeck were advised to use alternative TfL services with no dedicated replaced bus service put in place.
