A full tram service on the Blackpool Tramway through to Fleetwood Ferry will resume as planned from the start of Wednesday 15th April 2026. This comes following the completion of track upgrades in Fleetwood which have been taking place since last month.
During the closure between Fisherman’s Walk and Fleetwood Ferry – which was suspended over the Easter weekend – around 190 metres of track have been rewelded to help ensure more reliable and comfortable services.
Steve Staley, Tramway Operations and Safety Manager, said: “This essential work, which was suspended over the Easter weekend to enable residents and visitors to make the most of the holiday, has now been completed, but our investment in the network is set to continue.
“Later in the year, we plan to carry out further work on the tracks in Esplanade into Pharos Street and, from there, into North Albert Street.
“This is expected to take place after the busy summer season, and the investment reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible service to customers.”
The completion of the work means the current full tramway timetable will be reintroduced. This sees trams up to every 15 minutes between Starr Gate and Fleetwood Ferry with alternate departures travelling via North Station.
Steve concluded: “Now that the latest phase of the works is complete, we’d like to thank all our customers for their patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming them back to stops north of Fisherman’s Walk in the morning!”
