The chances are even if you just have a passing interest in the Blackpool Tramway, somewhere on your shelf will be a book by Brian Turner and now is your chance to add to that collection with his latest book now out: Blackpool’s Last Street Tramways.
This is a companion to his last book – Via Marton – but has the major advantage of being almost twice the size, with 208 pages and over 400 pictures, most of which are in colour. The name Brian Turner as the author gives you an idea of the quality you will be able to enjoy and is bound to be an excellent addition to any tram enthusiasts collection.
The book is in three main parts, covering the final years of Lytham Road (closed 1961), Dickson Road (closed 1963) and Princess Street (2005/2013). A fourth part brings the story up to date with coverage of the new street tramway along Talbot Road to North Station.
Only 150 copies of the book are being produced so you will have to be quick to secure your copy. The book costs £50 plus £5 post and packing.
If you are interested in securing your copy you can contact Brian Turner directly by emailing brian.r.turneratlive.com (change at for @ when emailing) for details on how payment can be made.
This is a superb book well written and the photographs are excellent. I recommend this book without reservation.
I echo your comments; this is an excellent companium to the previous book.
I have all of his volumes to date (and his son’s on Lytham St. Anne’s buses) and find them scholarly, well illustrated, and well presented. If you have any interest in the street railways of Blackpool they should be on your bookshelf. I can only hope that some material on the lines shut down by Walter Luft might someday emerge.
