Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Tramway Society announce outing plans for 2025

The Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Tramway Society are once again making plans to take their tram out and about across the local area in 2025 with the first details of these outings have now been released on their website.

The Society are the proud owners of tram no. 7, which although didn’t ever run on the Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Electric Railway is similar to a number of trams that were sold by Bournemouth to the tramway in North Wales. The tram is ex-Bournemouth 126 and it took the next number in the Llandudno sequence following on from 6 (which as Bournemouth 85 is now preserved at Crich) when cosmetic restoration took place.

Restored in time for the 2007 centenary of the opening of the tramway, no. 7 has been regularly seen around the local area at various events and even managed to go as far a field as Birkenhead for the Wirral Bus and Tram Show in October 2007. It is usually towed to these events by the trusty Matador lorry and is now sometimes joined by a former Crosville bus which now contains a model tramway.

The planned outings for 2025 – subject to the usual caveats – are as follows:

  • Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th May – Llandudno Extravaganza and Transport Festival

Actual location the tram will be located to be announced

  • Saturday 31st May – Deganwy Prom Day
  • Saturday 6th December – Llandudno Christmas Parade

With the tram illuminated it is planned that the tram will be hauled at the rear of the parade from the Railway Station to the Town Hall
