UKTram support high-profile transport infrastructure event

UKTram, who represent light rail in the UK, have been announced as a key supporter of a major transport infrastructure event taking place in Manchester at the start of March 2025. Interchange 25 is the only large-scale event of its kind in the UK and focusses on integrated transport infrastructure and brings together key figures from both the public and private sectors.

UKTram was recently named as an official supporter of the conference and James Hammett, UKTram Managing Director, has said he’s delighted to be involved in such a high-profile event that showcases the ability of intelligent transport system infrastructure to benefit society, the economy, and the environment.

James said: “Our participation highlights the vital role tramways and similar transit systems can play in the development of successful integrated transport networks, and we’re looking forward to this opportunity to learn from colleagues working on other transport infrastructure projects. Although this is the first time we have taken part in the conference, we will be looking to build on our presence at future Interchange events as we forge even closer links with the wider transport industry.”

Andrew Dowding, Managing Director of Interchange, added: “We are thrilled to have UKTram as a supporter. It’s a really exciting time for light rail with significant projects in the ground and more in the pipeline across the UK. The renewed focus on sustainable and integrated transport firmly positions light rail as a catalyst for urban growth, and we look forward to working with UKTram and its members to ensure the opportunities are writ large as part of the UK’s transport future.”

Interchange 2025 takes place at Manchester Central on 4th and 5th March and is free to attend. It also features Transforming Infrastructure Live, the ITS UK Annual Conference, and the STB Conference.
