Its time for “Manchester Metrolink Then & Now” again and we remain in the city centre, although its back onto the original route across the city centre this time.
Trams have run along Mosley Street in the city centre since 27th April 1992 with any trams needing to run between St Peter’s Square and either Market Street or Piccadilly Gardens having to run along these tracks. There was once a tramstop here but it was removed on 18th May 2013 with it having been the last “short” platform on the network.

It was before that single direction stop was built that this first photo was taken with it dating from 1989, pre-Metrolink construction works. It was just a normal road at this time and we see two minibuses running under the Little Gem branding heading away from us. These were operated by GM Buses, and there’s another bigger GM bus to be seen in the distance on the right as well.

25 years later and 14th March 2024 sees us in the same location as M5000 3136 heads away from us with a service to Victoria. We’ve missed the years of there being a stop here with the former Mosley Street platform having been gone for over 10 years but it would have been on the right-hand side in this area.
