Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink 2535

For the last time in this series of “Picture in Time” we are going to South London for a photo of the Croydon Tramlink system in 2008.

2535 is the only of the CR4000 trams to have carried a name with it receiving the name “STEPHEN PARASCANDOLO 1980-2007” in a special ceremony at Beckenham Junction on Sunday 21st October 2007. Stephen was the webmaster of the Unofficial Croydon Tramlink website who died after a road accident earlier that year. When seen in this photo the tram had been carrying the name for less than a year (its carried at the opposite end of the tram) but to this day the name is still in situ.

This is Arena where the tram has just arrived from Elmers End and will continue its journey into central Croydon from here. 2535 had been delivered to Therapia Lane on 30th November 1998.
