Its time to go back to the Seaton Tramway again for this instalment of “Picture in Time” with another shot from 1995.
With a helpfully chalked on identification, the below image features Exeter Corporation Tramways 19 (later 21) which would eventually become no. 19 in the Seaton Tramway fleet. Originally built in 1906, after withdrawal on its original tramway it was sold on for further use and was discovered in 1984 at which point it moved into the ownership of the Mid Devon Tramway Preservation Society. That group was unable to progress with the restoration and it was eventually to be donated to Seaton in 1994.
One year later and we see the unrestored tram body in the depot, waiting for work on its restoration to service to get underway in earnest. This was to see it become a single decker and would enter service as Seaton’s 19 in 1998.
