It looks like the Manchester Metrolink network will have one day with a full service on the entire network before the next set of works get underway. There is currently a major line closure of the Eccles line which started in July and will go on until Friday 21st October and now its been confirmed that there will be more rail replacement works which get underway on Sunday 23rd October in Piccadilly Gardens.
This work will see points replaced in Piccadilly Gardens and will mean that Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street and Shudehill stops will be closed between Sunday 23rd and Saturday 29th October. All services through Manchester City Centre will be diverted via 2CC during this period:
- Altrincham to Bury via 2CC
- Ashton-under-Lyne to Piccadilly
- Eccles to Deansgate-Castlefield
A replacement bus service will operate during this period in the affected section as well.
This is the latest set of essential engineering works to take place on Metrolink this year. The biggest work has been on the Eccles line which has seen no trams run beyond MediaCityUK since Friday 15th July and this will be the case until Friday 21st October. Then just as that is due to finish there will be more disruption on the network.
