Work to start on Magna Tram-Train stop – after confirmation of cost increases

Work on constructing a new stop on the South Yorkshire Supertram Tram-Train route to Rotherham Parkgate is set to start in February 2025 with it being ready for opening in November 2025. Confirmation of a start date for work has come after the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) revealed there has been a small increase in costs connected to the project.

NET launch new “Think Tram” safety campaign

Nottingham Express Transit has shared updated safety advice targeted at Nottingham’s school children, as well as the wider general public, as part of a new “Think Tram” safety campaign. There will be three short videos shown on their social media channels which will highlight the importance of staying vigilant when travelling on or around the trams.

In Pictures: Supertram 115 gets some new vinyls

The short-term JD Sports vinyls which had been seen in both Manchester and Sheffield are now no more with those carried on Supertram’s 115 removed and replaced by a new set promoting Park and Ride sites at stops across the network. Metrolink’s 3118 had lost its vinyls during January.

New bus and tram tickets in Manchester to make travel even cheaper

Travelling on Bee Network buses and trams in Manchester is set to get even cheaper from March with the launch of a new annual ticket which will allow passengers to enjoy unlimited travel for the equivalent of between £2.75 and £4.10 a day.

The start of the year has been a period where we’ve seen several trams in Manchester lose advertising vinyls to return to the standard fleet livery and as we enter February that seem no signs of changing as there are now a further two trams back in the yellow and silver livery.

New Metro fares from 1st July 2025

The latest set of fare increases to impact public transport users to be announced will see new fares introduced on the Tyne and Wear Metro (as well as the Shields Ferry) from 1st July 2025. The announcement comes with the usual warning that the best way to get the best value fares is by switching to Pop Pay As You Go whilst fares for younger people are being simplified.

In Pictures: Breitling return with a new advert on Edinburgh Trams

It must be Six Nations time again! For the third year in a succession Breitling – who are the official timetables of the rugby union championship – have taken out a contract for a full vinyl wrap advert on a tram in Edinburgh with a third different tram carrying the vinyls as 255 is the chosen vehicle this time. And for the first time it’s a change of design with the alternate yellow and blue sections replaced with a more consistent use of yellow.

Nexus reveal plans for introduction of new trains
