In Pictures: Blackpool 762 continues testing at Crich

Following on from its first run up the entire length of the line at the Crich Tramway Village on Saturday 28th September Blackpool Jubilee Car 762 hasn’t been resting on its laurels as it has been out testing again as preparations for the tram to hopefully join the operating fleet in 2014 continue. 762 – still carrying its Nickelodeon Land advert livery – made a number of runs on the mainline at Crich after the museum had closed its doors to the public on Tuesday 1st October and with thanks to Gary Conn we are delighted to bring you a couple of photos of the tram in action.

762 heads past the depot entrance and on towards the unmistakable structure of the Bowes Lyon Bridge.

This time we catch up with 762 as it passes the Bandstand stop on its way towards Wakebridge. (Both photos: Gary Conn)

* A video of the testing by Gary Conn is also available and this can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUXlCpXMRfA

Thanks for posting this. Great to see 762 running again. I’d not really registered before how little ground clearance there is under the ends of this tram – it seems to be almost touching the road surface at times in the video!

  2. Ash Tomlinson says:

Well, if there is very little clearance between the lifeguards and the concrete around the tracks, maybe the fibreglass skirts could be removed before the tram enters service as these surely must not be a requirement at Crich.

    • Andrew Waddington says:

Unless they’re a serious hazard (which seems unlikely) I expect the skirts will stay for the foreseeable future – after all, they are authentic to the tram in its current condition! 762 in post-2005 condition and ‘Spongebob’ livery with traditional lifeguards would certainly look odd!

  3. Daniel says:

Does anyone know if it will be getting a repaint in the future or is that too expensive right now due to having to remove the vinyl and possibly replace the panelling?
