In Pictures: Heaton Park depot gets its doors

The incredible speed of progress on the construction of the new Lakeside Depot at the Heaton Park Tramway shows no sign of slowing down, with recent progress seeing new folding doors added to the front of the building. The laying of brickwork around the lower walls is also now at an advanced stage, having come on well since the unveiling of the initial special stone a week ago.

The construction work is now at the stage where volunteers are able to assist with work. Wednesday 14th August also various some brass components for the overhead wires inside the depot delivered to the park. These have been professionally bead blasted and look like new.

The latest pictures showing work on the depot itself are shown below, and clearly highlight how far this project has come on since work began just a few short weeks ago.

An impressive view from within the new Lakeside Depot building, showing how much has been achieved in the last few weeks.

The lower brickwork for the depot is also now taking shape nicely.

Our first glimpse of the newly fitted depot doors.

A more general view of the building as it stands so far, showing how much the doors have changed its appearance. (All photos by Joe Savage)

Great progress. Will the depot be wired? There are no spaces at the top of the doors for overhead.
