Out and About: West Midlands Metro 42

We are off “Out and About” again today and its another trip to the West Midlands Metro.

The newest tram terminus in the UK is that at Edgbaston Village – the very end of the Birmingham Westside extension which welcomed its first passengers on Sunday 17th July after delays, mainly caused by the complete withdrawal of the fleet of Urbos3 trams in March owing to bodyside panel cracking. This photo shows 42 – which was in fact the first public tram to run on this extension – at the stop showing its standard two platform layout complete with grassed track and stop signs to prevent trams from going any further.
