London Tramlink drivers vote to strike over pay

Strikes are set to hit London Tramlink after drivers in the ASLEF union voted strongly in favour of taking strike action as a result of the ongoing pay dispute which has seen no pay increased offered this year.

The results of the ballot were overwhelmingly in favour of taking strike action. Over 86% of those eligible to vote did so and of those only one voted against going on strike with a total of 123 voting in favour.

As we’ve reported previously the whole dispute is over the lack of a new pay deal being offered by Tram Operations Limited (TOL) who operate Tramlink on behalf of Transport for London. The previous pay deal ended over six months ago and despite attempts at negotiating a settlement there has still been no offer of any form of pay rise which led ASLEF to ballot their members about going on strike to try and force the hand of management to offer a meaningful deal.

No dates for strikes have yet been announced.
