Stop by Stop Nottingham Express Transit: Central – Lace Market

We continue our way along Nottingham Express Transit as we enter the city centre and reach the stop at Lace Market.

This is the first stop we have featured in this series which opened on the first day of NET – 9th March 2004. After leaving the viaduct over the railway station the tramway runs along the street on Weekday Cross and Flecther Gate before arriving at Lace Market tramstop, with platforms either side of the tracks again. Its another stop of standard design with shelters, passenger information display, ticket machines, information panels and lighting all included.

A view looking back towards the railway station of Lace Market stop. The platform closest to the camera is that to Toton Lane and Clifton South.

In this view we see 222 arriving at the stop with a service for Hucknall. The standard design ticket machine and shelter can be seen in front of the tram.

The outbound stop at Lace Market is a little cramped with it also acting as the footpath and various shops have their entrances immediately onto the platform. 201 is arriving with a service to Toton Lane. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior, 19th September 2020)
