Lockdown Walks: West Midlands Metro 37

Today’s “Lockdown Walk” is back off to the West Midlands Metro.

This photo is taken at Lodge Road on the original West Midlands Metro route between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Opening for business on 31st May 1999 it is at the western edge of West Bromwich Town Centre and this platform is the Birmingham bound one.

The tram we see here is 37 – the last of the 21 strong Urbos3 class of trams built by CAF in Spain. It is one of just four of the class to have carried a name, of which only three still have them on their cab sides. The name is Ozzy Osbourne. (Photograph by Andy Walters, 10th April 2020)

Fun fact – this stop is statistically the least used stop of all of them on the route.
