Peter Cushing named new Midland Metro Alliance Director

Peter Cushing, former Metrolink Director at Transport for Greater Manchester, has been named as new Director of the Midland Metro Alliance, replacing Alejandro Moreno who had been in the role since 2016. Mr Moreno is returning to parent company Colas Rail as Managing Director for Lundy Projects Ltd.

After leaving Transport for Greater Manchester, Peter Cushing has been playing a key role across the light rail industry as the Interim CEO of the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB). Over the past few months he has also been supporting Transport for West Midlands as Acting Metro Director. This period has allowed him to gain an understanding of the Alliance, its client and key stakeholders.

Peter is said to be keen to build on the good work already achieved under Alejandro and to develop the future success of the Midland Metro Alliance so it remains the preferred delivery partner for Transport for West Midlands.

In a statement the Alliance Leadership Team said: “[We] would like to thank Alejandro for the leadership, drive and commitment shown throughout his tenure. This has seen the MMA successfully achieve a number of key milestones, including in December 2019 the early opening of the UKs first catenary free extension from Grand Central to Centenary Square.”
