Purple route changes in Sheffield after staff assault

Late evening services on Stagecoach Supertram services to Herdings Park have been suspended after a member of staff was assaulted in the evening of Friday 2nd March. Whilst Supertram assist the Police with the incident and with a full review into how staff are kept safe on board the trams being undertaken the decision has been taken to temporarily remove the service from approximately 2000 each evening.

On Mondays to Fridays the last service from Cathedral to Herdings Park will be at 1940 with a 2017 return. On Saturdays it will be 1945 and 2020 with Sundays seeing a 1946 from Cathedral and 2022 return from Herdings Park. After this time no Purple route trams will run with passengers advised to catch the Blue route instead to Birley Lane.

In a statement Stagecoach Supertram said: “These changes will remain in place until further notice, however we hope to resume normal service to and from Herdings Park very soon. We sincerely apologise to customers affected by these temporary changes, however safety is our priority.”
