Nottingham’s famous Goose Fair is about to return and after a successful revised tram service which ran around Christmas last year, Nottingham Express Transit have announced an enhanced service will run throughout the Fair (except on Sundays) which will include trams on each line every 8 minutes until 2300.
The Goose Fair gets underway on 25th September and will be running for 10 days. It takes place at The Forest Recreation ground and in preparation for the set-up this means The Forest Park and Ride will be shut as from 1800 on Sunday 21st September until 0900 on Wednesday 8th October.
Then starting from Friday 26th September a revised tram service will be running:
- Highbury Vale to Nottingham Station – trams every 4 minutes until 2300 Monday-Saturday
- Trams to Phoenix Park-Clifton South, and Hucknall-Toton Lane will be running at a 8 minute frequency to allow this service to operate on the central core section
- Sunday timetable will run as normal with no amendments
Trevor Stocker, Head of Operations and Safety at NET, said: “Goose Fair is an incredible time for Nottingham, as thousands of people flock to the city from near and far to mark the start of the autumn season with this much-anticipated annual event. As a local transport operator that connects many of the suburbs with the inner city, we’re pleased to be extending our timetable frequency, meaning it will be easy to travel safely in and out of the city centre during this upcoming busy period – even into the evening.
“This approach is tried and tested, and after operating on a similar extended timetable for the festive season last year, the positive feedback we received shows just how offering frequent, reliable and safe public transport can really help our local economy to thrive, as more people can enjoy what Nottingham has to offer. Our staff are ready to help people during this busy period, so everyone can enjoy Goose Fair, whenever they decide to visit.”
The normal tram service is set to start again from Monday 6th October 2025.
