New timetable for Blackpool

The end of the Illuminations signals the start of another new timetable on the Blackpool Tramway with a standard 15 minute service due to operate every day of the week from Sunday 8th November.

With the tourist trade dying down once the lights are switched off for another year Blackpool Transport will reduce the frequency of trams running with a near identical service operating on all seven days of the week.

The only difference to the service is the first tram times from Starr Gate with Mondays to Fridays starting at 0500, Saturdays at 0600 and Sundays at 0700. The 15 minute frequency commences with the 0800 from Starr Gate with four trams an hour until the 1915 from Starr Gate when a 30 minute frequency kicks in. Last tram from Starr Gate is at 2315 returning from Fleetwood at 0015.

The new service will start operating on Sunday 8th November which is actually the last day of the Illuminations. As such it is planned that, in addition to the enhanced Green timetable running on the heritage trams, extra trams will run on the main service as well although no details of how many has been announced (it begs the question why the illuminations timetable didn’t continue for a further day but there must be a good reason why).
