In Pictures: Work continues to return trams to The Point

Back on 19th August 2025 a major fire in Dublin City Centre caused significant damage to George’s Dock bridge which has meant that no trams have been able to run between Connolly and The Point since. Major work has been ongoing since and this is now starting to reach a conclusion, although there will be further disruption of the Red line before that happens with a planned one-day closure between Abbey Street and Connolly on Saturday 15th November 2025.

Puppet Metro train gets spooky makeover for Halloween

A puppet replica of a Tyne and Wear Metro train got into the Halloween spirit with it being transformed into a ghost train for the Great North Museum: Hanock’s Halloween Great North Night after-hours event.

Man taken to hospital after being hit by tram

A man was taken to hospital in Edinburgh after he was hit by a tram in Leith. The 66 year old was struck by the Newhaven bound tram on Constitution Street close to The Shore tramstop at around 1330 on Friday 7th November 2025 with emergency services attending the scene to treat his injuries.

In Pictures: 3096 is the second Trafford Palazzo tram

When it was announced that Barton Dock Road tramstop was to be renamed Trafford Palazzo, the press release made mention that there would be two trams wrapped to promote the shopping and entertainment centre. We quickly saw 3089 out in service but the second tram proved elusive initially but has now been spotted and confirmed as being 3096.

FOI request confirms more DLR scrappings

We recently gave an update of DLR fleet changes which included details of some recent scrappings, but that wasn’t a complete list as a FOI request made to Transport for London has confirmed that since the start of August 2025 18 of the redundant units have gone off for scrap.

Edinburgh Trams have been recognised at another award ceremony, although this time its not quite the expected type of ceremony for a transport network! This time its the web based system for managing Authority to Work permits, PERMIT+ which has been rewarded at the Cloud Computing Awards.

TSO to support return of Johannesburg 60 to service at Crich

As most people will be aware, many of the restoration projects at Crich rely on external funding with the Tramcar Sponsorship Organisation (TSO) being a major supporter which has meant that many trams have managed to return to the rails. They are currently funding the major restoration of Blackpool 298 and have now agreed that they will help bring Johannesburg 60 back to the rails.

Edinburgh Trams celebrates one million ToTo journeys

It may only have been launched in May 2025, but Edinburgh Trams have already reached one million Top-On, Tap-Off journeys. The milestone was reached over the weekend of 25th and 26th October 2025, just over five months after the first journeys were possible on 19th May 2025.
