In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 26 hits the road once again!

Just when you thought things may be settling down a bit with West Midlands Metro trams not going here, there and everywhere by road, then another tram is spotted leaving Wednesbury Depot. And it’s a tram which is certainly no stranger to taking a trip on the back of a low loader!

Urbos3 26 was seen departing from Wednesbury Depot at around 1315 on Tuesday 4th November 2025 with Reid’s Freight again doing the honours of the move (as they have with the majority of recent moves of West Midlands Metro trams). The location of this move is not known at the moment with it either going back to Dudley or back to Worksop.

And it will be a return to either as it spent time at Dudley for repairs between October 2022 and January 2023 and has spent at least two periods for storage at Worksop (August 2023-Feburary 2024 and then again from 2nd April 2024). If that isn’t enough for trips away from Wednesbury it also spent six months at Wolverton Works from September 2017 to fix damage caused by a derailment at the depot.

Farewell 26 – again! On the back of a lorry is a regular experience for 26 and it seen here on the back of a Reid’s low loader having just left Wednesbury Depot. (Photograph by Michael Morton, 4th November 2025)
