In Pictures: Llandudno & Colwyn Bay 7 gets ready for Christmas

Yes, its time to mention the “C” word which is rapidly approaching in less than two months time! We, of course, mean Christmas and in preparation for another outing for the tram, the Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Tramway Society took no. 7 out for an autumnal run on the first day of November 2025.

The Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Society take the tram out several times a year to events in the local area and the next planned outing is due to be on Saturday 6th December 2025 when it will take part in the Llandudno Christmas Parade. Its expected that 7 will be at the rear of the parade as it runs from the Railway Station to the Town Hall with further details to follow.

In preparation for this outing they took the tram out for a test on 1st November 2025, to make sure that everything is in order for its planned outings. As well as the Llandudno Christmas Parade its also hoped that it may appear at the Colywn Bay Christmas lights switch-on although more details (including a date) are awaited on that one.

The Society only have a limited number of volunteers who make events such as these possible and they are always on the look out for more help. This could include a few hours manning the tram at events, helping to sell souvenirs or even helping to maintain the tram itself. If you can help they would love to hear from you, either by visiting the tram at an event or contacting the Society – details on their website at https://tram.wales/.

Here we see 7 pausing at the former eastbound tramstop at Penrhynside (at the top of the hill adjacent to the Little Orme) where the famous “Llandudno Welcomes You” illuminated sign has remained in situ since the tramway days finished in 1956. (Photograph by John Bird, 1st November 2025)
