I think that 3036 followed 3030 (running late) on an Eccles service about 0040 as bunching at Piccadilly and a points failure at Piccadilly Gardens caused late departures to Altrincham & Eccles

Yes I remember 290 was one of the Brush cars. The pantographs were withdrawn the previous year - 1962.
As far as I can remember the pantographs only every ran on the North Station to Fleetwood route. Unless someone knows different.

Great to see the tracks again though.

Great list, thank you for this and for the site.

Three more came to mind, but they may not necessarily come under the heading of heritage - Great Orme, Shipley Glen and the Heath Park Tramway in Cardiff. The later is a third scale one, but a fun place to go on a sunny bank holiday.

One of tfgm reasons for closing mosley st, is that they say it will get rid of the bottleneck in the city centre. The only bottle neck in the town centre is G-mex ramp.So by closing mosley st,that means trams will join the queue on g-mex ramp even quicker than before.
Or maybe the other reason is that when east didsbury open next week, they will be running double M5000 units from east didsbury to Rochdale. This is due to the already heavy passenger loading during peak on the werburghs line.A one car m5000 on a twelve minute service from east didsbury couldn't cope.

Somehow, some wires seem to have got a bit crossed somewhere along the line about which balloons are operating which duties, I suspect this is due to a misprint in the FTS magazine which shows the last three columns in the wrong order! The first B fleet column in the magazine should show the cars that are working all day, the second column the cars that are workling morning only and the third column the cars that are working afternoons only. This puts 724 firmly on a half day working only, as planned.

It is so common to see pictures of trams that have been preserved in museums, supposedly to be kept in good condition (not even needing maintenace as they are not operational), actually falling into serious states of disrepair, like the Feltham in the US and now this Glasgow standard. The magnificent condition of trams preserved in operational condition is a notable contrast with this sorry specimen. Once it is restored again, let us hope it remains so.

It is worth mentioning that the last tram to run over the tracks on dickson road was number 290. it can be seen on display at the pleasure beach loop and is part of the fleetwood heritage collection.

I've also noticed something else that needs correcting - 642 actually last ran in service on the last day of traditional tram operations in 2011.
