UK tramways pause to remember

Tramways across the UK will join the nation in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice by those who served in the armed forces in conflicts across the world. And as has become traditional many will also be offering service personnel free travel.

Blackpool Tramway

Both trams and buses will pause at 1100 (where safe to do so) on both Remembrance Sunday (9th November) and Armistice Day (11th November) for a two minute silence.

Free travel will be offered to veterans and serving members of the armed forces attending Remembrance events. Cadets in uniform will also be able to travel for free on both days.

Edinburgh Trams

Trams will stop at 1100 to observe a two minute silence on both Sunday 9th November and Tuesday 11th November.

Veterans and serving members of the armed forces will be able to travel for free on both days. They will be able to take up this offer by showing their military ID or wearing their uniform.

Manchester Metrolink

A two-minute silence will be held on both Sunday 9th November and Tuesday 11th November to pay respects.

Poppy wreaths will also be carried on board 3020 – named after the Lancashire Fusiliers.

Free travel is also on offer to veterans, serving members of the armed forces and cadets on both days.

Tram services will be suspended through St Peter’s Square between 1000 and 1300 on Sunday 9th November to allow the annual service of remembrance to take place.

South Yorkshire Supertram
