A revised offer made by Nottingham Trams Limited with the aim of preventing strike action from affecting services during the Goose Fair has been rejected with the GMB Union urging for a further improved offer to be made.

New UKTram Engineering Group Chair gives communications commitment

The new Chair of the UKTram Light Rail Engineering Group, Marilena Papadopoulou, has said that her priority for the group will be to establish continuous dialogue with engineering experts across the light rail sector. Marilena made the commitment ahead of her first meeting as Chair which will take place in September.

Edinburgh Trams Inquiry report finally released

More than nine years after originally announced, and almost eight since the preliminary hearing, the full Edinburgh Trams Inquiry report has finally been published – and it’s a big one! Coming in at just short of 1000 pages (there is a video released from Lord Hardie as well which comes in at 48 minutes), Lord Hardie’s report states that what happened was avoidable with much of the blame being put at the doorstep of arms-length company tie and the City of Edinburgh Council with the Scottish Government also criticised for their role in the project. The report also gives 24 recommendations to prevent anything similar happening again.

In Preview: Final Enhanced Weekend of Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours operation

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September will see the final Enhanced Weekend of operation for Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours for 2023 with a hop-on, hop-off timetable running on both days giving various journeys running between Pleasure Beach and Fleetwood Ferry between just after 1000 and just before 1800.

Metrolink disruption after RTC and Police incident

Services on Manchester Metrolink were disrupted on two occasions in early-mid September after separate incidents led to changes to the service. The first saw a car collide with a tram whilst the second was down to a Police incident close to Piccadilly.

Tim Crookall returns to be Minister for Infrastructure

Tim Crookall MHK has been reappointed as Minister for Infrastructure in the Isle of Man Government. Mr Crookall previously held the role from October 2021 to June 2022, with this period including one of uncertainty for the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway in particular with the will-it, won’t-it be extended back to the Sea Terminal.

Firefighters get familiar with new Tyne and Wear Metro trains

Firefighters from the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) have started a number of training courses to get familiar with the new Stadler built trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro network. This will enable them to react to any emergency situation in the event that one occurs once they enter service.
