More NET Park and Ride sites to be covered by enhanced enforcement

The Park and Ride sites serving the Nottingham Express Transit system at Hucknall and Moor Bridge are to become the latest to enjoy enforcement patrols as the clampdown of those who misuse the facilities continues. The enforcement will be introduced from Monday 18th September.

The enforcement action was first introduced at The Forest Park and Ride in 2022 and the action has been welcomed by the majority of NET customers. It has since been extended to Toton Lane and Wilkinson Street with Hucknall and Moor Bridge the latest to be added to the list.

Anyone who marks outside marked bays or uses disabled spaces without a Blue Badge risks being clamped. Motorists who leave their vehicle without a valid NET ticket or pass will face a release fee of £140, rising to £200 if their car needs to be removed from the site.

Trevor Stocker, NET’s Head of Operations, said: “In total, across the three park and ride sites where patrols currently operate, more than 350 drivers have had to pay a release fee. However, we’ve seen a significant reduction in the number of motorists breaking rules that are clearly displayed in prominent locations within the car parks and at the tram stops. This is freeing up spaces for customers who frequently tell us they want firm action taken against a small minority that make life more difficult for everyone else, particularly those with restricted mobility.”

To aid the new enforcement campaign there will be new high visibility signage which informers users of the introduction of these measures and it will also be widely promoted through NET’s social media channels.

Charges applied for the release of the vehicles will cover the cost of the enforcement action with NET also donating 5% of the charges to local charities.
