NET launch discounted academic tram year passes

With the new University year about to get underway, Nottingham Express Transit is looking to make student life affordable to students going to or returning to Nottingham with a discounted academic tram year pass available for purchase. For a limited period the Student Academic Year Tram Ticket will be available on the NETGO! app at a reduced price with unlimited travel then allowed between 1st September 2023 and 31st July 2024.

The discounted fare – which will only be available until 22nd October 2023 – will be £250 for the full academic year pass. This means tram travel is only 75p a day – a normal Student Day Ticket is £4 showing the big savings which are available by purchasing the Student Academic Year Ticket.

Alison Sweeney, NET’s Head of Marketing, explains more: “We’re always looking at ways to support our customers and being able to provide university and college students with an accessible and affordable tram service is something we’re very proud of. Student life can be expensive, especially during the current cost of living crisis, so it was important for us to do what we can. With £50 off for a limited time, we are helping students to safely get where they need to for just 75p a day.”

The NET team will be attending the freshers’ fairs in the city during Fresher’s Weeks – and at those events they will be offering an even bigger discount on the pass.

There is a focus on safer travel around the city at the moment and NET continue to have a number of safety initiatives and measures in place across the network. These include well lit stations and platforms, HD CCTV cameras on all trams, emergency help buttons at all stops and on trams and the ability to contact a member of the tram discreetly through WhatsApp on 0115 824 6060.
