The weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November saw more engineering works taking place on Manchester Metrolink, and as always that led to inevitable service changes with trams unable to run through Trafford Bar for both days. One of the more unusual services in operation was between Manchester Airport and Sale Water Park as featured in this article.

Overhead line damage causes Supertram disruption

There has been major disruption to services on the South Yorkshire Supertram network following overhead line damage in two separate locations. The problems were first reported early on Friday 21st November 2025, leading to service changes for the rest of the day.

In Pictures: Edinburgh Trams 262 back in service – with a new vinyl wrap attached

Whilst its not as long-term as many other examples across tramways in the UK, Edinburgh Trams 262 has now returned to service after a six month absence. And in doing so it has a new look with its previous wrap replaced by a new contract for Square.

New Blackpool Tramway timetable to be introduced

A new timetable is to be introduced on the Blackpool Tramway from Sunday 30th November as the busier period for the trams comes to an end once again. This new timetable will still see trams running up to every 10 minutes on sections of the network, although for the first time since the upgraded tramway opened it will also see services using Pleasure Beach as a terminus.

13% increase in NET passengers during 2025 Goose Fair

And just like that the last of expired adverts from operational Flexity2 trams in Blackpool have been removed! Following quickly on from the removal of adverts on 009, 015 has also now seen its long-term ads promoting Blackpool Transport’s own range of Saver tickets taken off.

Supertram fares changes approved

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) have confirmed new fares for travel on South Yorkshire Supertram. The majority will be frozen at their current levels, although the long-distance single fare will be reduced as part of measures from the Mayor to support people with the cost of living and encourage the public back onto public transport.

New survey shows increased satisfaction with NET

A new survey completed by behavioural science expert, Mindfield Research, has shown that satisfaction rates amongst customers of Nottingham Express Transit have increased by 17% year on year since 2023.

Temporary Supertram timetable – Sunday 23rd November 2025

Sunday 23rd November 2025 sees the first Steel City derby between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United of the 2025/6 Championship season and with the match taking place at Hillsborough Stadium a temporary timetable has been announced for Supertram. This will see no trams running to Hillsborough immediately before and after the match.

West Midlands Metro services are once again travelling to Wolverhampton St George’s following the completion of upgrade works. Whereas last time they returned to the original Wolverhampton terminus it was always due to be temporary, this time it’s a permanent return ahead of the opening of phase one of the Eastside extension to Millennium Point.

Tram-Train depot at Taffs Well officially opened by King Charles

His Majesty King Charles officially opened the South Wales Metro Depot in Taff’s Well on Friday 14th November 2025. The new structure has been built to house 36 Stadler built Citylink tram-trains which are due to start entering service next year as conventional trains ahead of a planned cross-city tram route, due to open in 2028.
