In Pictures: Sale Water Park becomes a Metrolink terminus for a weekend

The weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November saw more engineering works taking place on Manchester Metrolink, and as always that led to inevitable service changes with trams unable to run through Trafford Bar for both days. One of the more unusual services in operation was between Manchester Airport and Sale Water Park as featured in this article.

With trams unable to get any further towards Manchester City Centre than Sale Water Park (the East Didbsury line was closed in its entirety as well) that is where trams from Manchester Airport were terminated. This saw the tram arrive in the usual city bound platform at Sale Water Park where they terminated. They then headed back to the Airport, departing from the same platform and using the trailing crossover after the stop to access the usual Airport bound track.

Two different sets of trams were used for the service on the two days.

Saturday 1st November – 12 minute frequency requiring six trams: 3015, 3017, 3070, 3103, 3117, 3121

Sunday 2nd November – 15 minute frequency requiring five trams: 3095, 3099, 3103, 3136, 3145
