A new timetable is to be introduced on the Blackpool Tramway from Sunday 30th November as the busier period for the trams comes to an end once again. This new timetable will still see trams running up to every 10 minutes on sections of the network, although for the first time since the upgraded tramway opened it will also see services using Pleasure Beach as a terminus.
During the main part of the day the new service pattern will see:
- Starr Gate to Fleetwood Ferry (direct) every 30 minutes
- Starr Gate to Fleetwood Ferry via North Station every 30 minutes
- Fleetwood Ferry to Starr Gate (direct) every 30 minutes
- Fleetwood Ferry to Starr Gate via North Station every 30 minutes
- Fleetwood Ferry to Pleasure Beach (direct) every 30 minutes
These services combine to mean there are trams every 15 minutes between Starr Gate and Pleasure Beach, whilst the rest of the network sees trams up to every 10 minutes (although the timetable means these aren’t completely evenly spread).
The evening then sees trams every 15 minutes from each end with alternate departures going via North Station.
Jamie Swift, Blackpool Transport’s Head of Commercial, said: “We’ve carefully studied travel patterns over the last couple of winters, and taken into account passenger feedback, to draw up a timetable that meets customer needs. At the same time, this will enable us to carry out essential maintenance work during what is traditionally a quieter time of the year.
“Over the next few months, we will monitor the performance of this seasonal timetable as part of our planning for the year ahead and the busy summer season, when we hope to make further service enhancements.”
