Supertram to get into festive spirit with on-board choir

Sunday 30th November 2025 will be a day to really start to get into the Christmas spirit on the South Yorkshire Supertram network as they will be welcoming a local choir on-board for a return journey from Middlewood to Meadowhall.

The Glee Bah Gum Community Choir will travel on the Yellow line, departing Middlewood on the 1206 and then heading back from Meadowhall to Middlewood on the 1246 departure.

They will be raising funds for two local charities, the Sheffield Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, and The Sick Children’s Trust.

The event has been made possible with the help of Supertram conductor and choir member David, whose idea brings festive cheer to both passengers and colleagues. There will be a mix of traditional and modern Christmas carols as the tram heads along the line.

David, who is also a member of the choir, said: “It was wonderful to sing on the trams last year and the whole event went much better than expected. So many people sat in the central carriage of the tram with us and sang along; a few even had tears in their eyes remembering times past. This year we are raising money for two children’s charities, so, in a way we are embodying the spirit of Christmas: thinking of others, children and music. I hope lots of people come to listen to us this year.”

Jasmine Thompson, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at Supertram, commented: “Community connection and customer experience are at the heart of everything we do at Supertram. This event is a wonderful way to bring people together, not just through travel, but through shared moments of joy. We’re proud to continue to support the Glee Bah Gum Community Choir and the brilliant charities they’ve chosen, and we hope our customers enjoy a truly memorable festive journey with us.”

Normal tram tickets will be valid for travelling on the special choir trams with no advance booking necessary.  There will be collection buckets on-board for the two charities.
