There are now just nine more of the new Tyne and Wear Metro trains to arrive in the northeast following the delivery of another three over two nights on 14th and 15th November 2025.
This latest delivery was actually delayed by a week with an issue experienced on mainland Europe meaning it wasn’t possible for the three to make their way to the UK, but after a delay everything went smoothly to allow them to be transported by rail – just as all the other deliveries have too.
The latest threesome to be delivered are 555 024, 555 025 and 555 030. As has been the case since the numbers to arrive in one consist from Switzerland started two were moved onto the Tyne and Wear Metro network on one night with the final one following the next day. This time it was 555 025 and 555 030 which arrived in the early hours of 14th November 2025 whilst 555 024 followed the next night.
However, this time it was a little different as 555 024 remained in Pelaw Sidings awaiting movement to Gosforth Depot into the daytime of 15th November. This is probably the first time that the move hasn’t gone straight to the depot in the cover of darkness.
The delivery of these latest three now means the following have arrived in the northeast:
555 001 – 555 021
555 024 – 555 025
555 027 – 555 028
555 030 – 555 032
555 034 – 555 041
555 043
With three coming at once it should now mean that there will be just another three deliveries coming across from Switzerland.
