In Pictures: Supertram moves the crowds for Tramlines festival

Taking place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July, the Tramlines Festival has seen large crowds of people wanting to get and from the event – and what better way than to transport them by tram? With the festival taking place in Hillsborough Park both the Blue and Yellow routes on Stagecoach Supertram were handy for festival goers and they came in their thousands to get there with hordes disembarking from the trams in what was probably one of the busiest days on the network since the pandemic.

Out and About: Tyne and Wear Metro at Tynemouth Station

Modern preserved tram for the scrapman?

When the fleet of Midland Metro T69s were sold at e-auction in 2018, several examples were saved including one which was due to preserved by Birmingham Museums. But now after four years of storage at Long Marston it appears that 11, still in its Birmingham Corporation inspired livery, is about to be scrapped as it has been seen on a low loader close to Sims Metal UK in Newport – a location well known for the scrapping of UK rail vehicles.

MER overhead wires felled by canoes…

Problems with overhead wires on tram systems across the British Isles isn’t exactly a new phenomenon but we’re not sure we’ve reported on a situation quite like this before.
