Metro performances goes up and then stays there!

It has been a couple of months since we last took a look at Tyne and Wear Metro performance – but that doesn’t matter a great deal as in the first period we take a look at in this article it went up and in the second it stayed exactly in the same place!

When we last saw the performance (up to the end of March) 84% of trains were classed as on time (that’s 3 minutes later or 30 second later than the scheduled time) but that has now improved in both of the next two periods. In the four weeks from 1st April to 30th April and then from 1st May to 28th May the figure was up to 89%.

In a strange coincidence in 2021 those two periods also had exactly the same percentage, it was just one percent higher at 90%! It obviously appears April and May are fairly consistent months on the Tyne and Wear Metro!

The posters are still little more than a glorified advert with the former section giving details of major disruption replaced by an advert for Pop Pay As You Go.
