In Pictures: Supertram 116 receives new advert

After just a few months back in fleet livery, Stagecoach Supertram 116 has received another advert with this one being an internal advert publicising Park and Ride across the tram network. The tram received the new vinyls in mid-April and has been seen around the depot and also on test but at the time of typing has not re-entered service in its new guise.

In Pictures: Blackpool 619 receives side ads

When Blackpool 619 was officially relaunched into service at the Heaton Park Tramway at the end of March it was confirmed that there remained a few jobs to complete to give the finished product. This includes some additional lining out on the livery as well as the application of adverts on the roof advert boards. The latter of these has now taken place with a local firm having taken out the advertising space.

Coronation Boat Tram Special at the Seaton Tramway!

The Seaton Tramway will be running a Coronation Boat Tram Special on Coronation day with tickets available now to book your place on tram no. 4 for these trips. The tram will make five departures from Seaton Station during the day taking you one way to Colyton where, if you want, you can treat yourself to a Coronation High Tea!

Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Electric Railway 7 back on display this weekend

Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Electric Railway 7 is to make its first public appearance of 2023 with it due to be on display at the Llandudno Transport Festival this coming Bank Holiday weekend. For the first time in several years the tram can be found on the main festival site at Bodafon Fields with the parade through the streets of the town not taking place this year.

Tram output for Blackpool May Day Bank Holiday Enhanced weekend announced

The five trams set to run on each day of the Enhanced Weekend of heritage tram operation in Blackpool over the forthcoming May Day Bank Holiday weekend have been confirmed. With a new timetable in operation for the weekend only five trams will be needed on each day instead of the previous six but there will still be plenty of trams out for you to enjoy.

In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 53 enters service

One of the latest CAF Urbos100 to have been delivered for use on the West Midlands Metro has now entered service. 53 carried its first passengers on Monday 24th April having been used on daylight driver training for a few weeks previous to this.

In Pictures: Repaint for Snaefell Mountain Railway 4

Not previously mentioned on our news pages is that over the winter Snaefell Mountain Railway 4 has received a repaint and is now once again in what is considered the standard fleet livery. The tram had been running for the past few years in a unique livery which has now been consigned to the history books.

In Pictures: Leeds 602 shunted ahead of the King’s Coronation

We all love a good shunt of trams at Crich don’t we? And when it’s a tram which hasn’t seen the light of day for a while its even more exciting and that was the case on Sunday 23rd April when Leeds 602 was extracted from the Great Exhibition Hall ahead of a starring role at a yet unannounced Coronation event due to take place at the Crich Tramway Village at some point over the Coronation Bank Holiday weekend (6th-8th May).

New Operations Director appointed on Tyne and Wear Metro

Nexus have appointed a new Operations Director for the Tyne and Wear Metro. Kevin Storey has been promoted from the Head of Operations Delivery role and will now be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of services on the network.

With more trams continuing to enter service for the first time this year we take another look at which heritage trams have run during 2023 so far. The aim is to feature all tramways within the British Isles and to give an indication of what has run on each of them – to qualify it has to have run with passengers on board, so private hires do count but not any tram which has just been used for testing. Edinburgh Trams 264 back to fleet livery

Back in December 2022 we reported on a new advertising livery for Edinburgh Trams 264 with it having received vinyls for Jollyes Pet Store. This ended up being a short-term contract though as, although previously unreported, come January 2023 the vinyls were removed with the tram back in fleet livery again.
