There were delays to Manchester Metrolink services on a couple of occasions in mid-December after two unrelated incidents took place. The first of these saw a car blocking the tracks with the second seeing two pedestrians hit by a tram.
On 15th December 2025 it was the Manchester Airport line which was impacted with a car reported as being on the tracks at Shadowmoss. The blockage was first report at around 0630 and was fortunately a short-lived issue as things were on the move again just after 0700. During the blockage trams from Victoria terminated at Wythenshawe Town Centre with no trams from there to Manchester Airport.
Then on 17th December 2025 two pedestrians were hit by a tram at Didsbury Village at around 1940. The woman and teenage boy suffered injuries, with the woman being taken to hospital for further treatment to her injuries.
A spokesperson from TfGM said: “We’re aware of a collision involving a tram and two pedestrians at Didsbury Village Metrolink stop, which happened shortly after 1940 this evening. We’re fully supporting emergency services who remain on the scene. The East Didsbury line is currently suspended with services turning at Sale Water Park until further notice and ticket acceptance in place on local buses.”
