You’ll need to dig deeper into your pockets to travel on the South Yorkshire Supertram network from 1st January 2025 with confirmation that fares will be increasing, including the removal of the Mayoral Combined Authority funded cap on single fares.

UKTram make two new board appointments

Nicola Small and Steve Mabey have been elected as non-executive directors of UKTram as the organisation looks to further enhance their position as a driving force behind the growth in light rail. They were appointed at UKTram’s recent annual general meeting and will now be supporting the wider team as it builds on a host of successes to date.

In Pictures: Ride the Lights returns at East Anglia Transport Museum

Once again, weekends in December up until Christmas have seen the East Anglia Transport Museum throw open their doors again for “Ride the Lights”. This provides one of the few opportunities in their operating season where you can enjoy the delights of the museum after dark and to add to the spectacle there is plenty of additional lighting including the expected Christmas lights. In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 35 back in regular use

With a fleet of 42 trams – albeit with several either out of service long-term or away for off-site storage – there are some vehicles on the West Midlands Metro network which don’t get seen in service on a regular basis. Increased wait times for Metro services after Gateshead flyover closure

Passengers travelling on Tyne and Wear Metro services are being warned of increased journey times and longer wait for the next train after a speed restriction was implemented following the closure of the Gateshead flyover on Friday 13th December.

New Edinburgh Trams timetable increases journey times

The new Edinburgh Trams timetable which was introduced on Sunday 1st December – which included the addition of extra trams at peak periods – has led to increased journey times with one local campaigner claiming that is now no faster to take the tram than it is the bus along Leith Walk.
