In Pictures: 255 shows the joy of shortbread at Christmas!

The latest advert change in Edinburgh has seen 255 lose a full wrap as RBS supported Team GB ahead of the Paris Olympics in favour of a partial advert for Walker’s Shortbread – encouraging everyone to share the joy of shortbread this Christmas!

255 had been carrying its purple-y wrap for Team GB since July 2024 but now has normal fleet livery again in addition to the Walker’s Shortbread ads which, as usual with this type of advert, include full height vinyls on the third and fifth section of the tram. Much of the advert features the traditional Walker’s Shortbread tartan design and it tells us that it is “Scotland at its finest” as well as telling us to “Share the joy of shortbread this Christmas”.

This is the first time that Walker’s Shortbread have advertised on a tram in Edinburgh and is just the fourth different company to have ads on 255:

C R Smith – October 2017-March 2020

Forever Edinburgh – October 2020-July 2024 (three different designs)

RBS supporting Team GB – July 2024-December 2024

Of these adverts the Team GB was a full wrap with all others being of the partial type, of which it has now returned to with this ad for Walker’s Shortbread.

255 is caught on camera here at McDonald Road with a service heading to the Airport.

Some of the detail of the new advert, including the two full height sections. If only those were life sized pieces of shortbread on the vinyls! (Both Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 14th December 2024)
