You’ll need to dig deeper into your pockets to travel on the South Yorkshire Supertram network from 1st January 2025 with confirmation that fares will be increasing, including the removal of the Mayoral Combined Authority funded cap on single fares.
These are the first fare increases seen on normal Supertram tickets since operation of the network changed from Stagecoach to a newly created Combined Authority company in March 2024.
As is usual when fare increases are announced South Yorkshire Supertram have provided justification for reasons why it is necessary. In their announcement they said that they are “necessary to offset increases in operating costs, align with broader transport fare changes in the region and will enable us to continue investing in our services.”
From 1st January 2025 the following fares will be in place, when purchased on-board the tram:
Adult Short Single – £2.50 (was £2.40)
Adult Short Return – £4.20 (was £4.00)
Adult Long Single – £3.40 (was £2.80, thanks to the fare cap)
Adult Tram Day – £5.70 (was £5.40)
Child Tram Day – £3.00 (no change)
Adult Tram 7 Day – £20.00 (was £19.00)
Child Tram 7 Day – £9.50 (was £9.00)
Discounted prices for day and 7 day tickets can be gained by using the TSY App:
Adult Tram Day – £5.30 (was £5.00)
Adult Tram 7 Day – £18.50 (was £17.50)
Child Tram 7 Day – £8.90 (was £8.50)
