Tram drivers on West Midlands Metro are set to enjoy a pay increase of 13.5% from 1st April 2024 after the successful conclusion of negotiations between Unite the Union and the operator of the tramway.

Metrolink bike trial gets underway

A supervised trial to test whether bikes and non-standatd cycles can be taken safely on Manchester Metrolink has launched. This comes after agreement by the Bee Network Committee in January and is being described as a “guided pilot” with only invited participants able to bring their bikes onto the trams with supervision of a Keolis Amey Metrolink member of staff.

UKTram back inclusion and diversity

UKTram’s Managing Director has urged male colleagues to think how they can contribute to making the sector an even more inclusive place to work. James Hammett recently attended a Women in Transport event which focused on ways men can support their female colleagues and now he says that more still needs to be done on the road to full equality.

Crich delay opening for a week as 2024 trams revealed

If you’ve been waiting for your tram fix at the home of the National Tramway Museum at Crich you’ll have to be a bit more patient as its been announced that the first trams won’t be running for an additional week. But whilst we do wait to see the museum open once again after its winter shutdown it can also be revealed the trams that should be running at some point during the 2024 season.

Boy hit by tram in Nottingham

This article was updated 6/3/24 with further details and an update on the age of the person hit.

A 11 year old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries when he was hit by a tram after falling off his bike close to Wilkinson Street tramstop shortly after 0800 on Monday 4th March. Police, the Fire Service and Ambulance attended the scene to deal with the incident which led to tram services being suspended for a time.

West Midlands Metro customer satisfaction survey results revealed

For the first time since the pandemic, at the end of 2023 West Midlands Metro ran a customer satisfaction survey where they sought feedback from over 1,500 customers on the network. It was conducted independently by Transport for West Midlands using a specialist team trained to carry out face to face interviews alongside a digital survey.

Bournemouth tram heads to auction

A tram which once ran on Bournemouth Corporation Tramways is heading to auction. No. 113 has been in use as an office by Plankbridge (a firm who specialise in making and restoring shepherd’s huts) for around a decade but they have now decided it is surplus to their requirements and so are putting it up the sale which will be taking place on 3rd April.

In Pictures: Another Six Nations day in Edinburgh

Saturday 24th February saw Scotland’s second (and final) home match of the 2024 6 Nations Championship with the Calcutta Cup fixture against England taking place (a game which Scotland won 30-21 to claim their fourth successive victory). And with thousands of fans needing to be transported to and from the rugby at Murrayfield Stadium, once again extra trams were put as we see in this latest Edinburgh pictorial article.
