In Pictures: Supertram takes you to Tramlines

Tramlines – a music festival which takes place in Hillsborough Park – returned for three days of music including headlines acts such as Pulp, Reytons and Kasbian from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th July. With Hillsborough Park being right by the South Yorkshire Supertram route to Middlewood, the trams are an ideal way to get to and from the event and in this article we see images of the crowds heading to the festival.

New partnership seeks to make NET safer

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Gary Godden is bringing together Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham Express Transit for a collaborative project with aims to make public transport even safer. Operation Safenet will see closer collaboration and information sharing between police and NET to prevent crime, analyse trends and come up with solutions that keep passengers safe on the network.

In Pictures: CBSO return with a new advert on West Midlands Metro

The partnership between West Midlands Metro and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has been renewed for a third year – and that means that a new advert for the CBSO has been revealed on tram 52. This is a revised design – albeit with basic similarities – from that previously seen on 45 and brings to an end a brief two month period where no tram was promoting the orchestra.

More Tyne and Wear Metro scrappings

A further two Tyne and Wear Metrocars have left the network to go for a date with the scrapman in recent days – the 27th and 28th of the original fleet of 90 trains which ran the service for over 40 years. The two trains to go this time are 4033 and 4072.

In Pictures: New advert for Metrolink 3097

Sunglasses season is obviously over for Manchester as the advert for Sunglass Hut has been removed from 3097 and has now been replaced by a new wrap for Sealife and Legoland, both attractions operated by Merlin and located at the Trafford Centre. Some may have a bit of déjà vu about this advert as in March and April 2025 the tram had an ad for (just) Sealife!

RAIB launch investigation after pedestrians hit by a tram in Sheffield

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) have confirmed that they are investigating the incident close to Woodbourn Road on the South Yorkshire Supertram network which saw two pedestrians hit by a tram on a crossing. This happened at around 1615 on 22nd June 2025 and saw two youths injured, one suffering serious injuries.
