Ozzy Osbourne name removed from two trams

Around the time of the passing of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne several additional trams received his name to allow the West Midlands Metro to pay their respects. At one time there were no fewer than four trams which carried the name, but more recently two have seen it removed leaving just two.

The four trams which had been carrying the name were 37 (the original Ozzy tram named by the man himself), 45, 49 and 57. But now both 45 and 57 have lost the name which leaves 37 and 49 to pay their own respects to Ozzy Osbourne.

45 is seen without its name as it calls at Wednesbury Parkway with a service to Wolverhampton Station.

And 57 is seen in the same position working a service to the same place. This tram has no name but retains the special anniversary West Midland Metro logo. (Both Photographs by Shiv Patel, 6th September 2025)

  1. Geoff Currie says:

Naming more than one Tram ( or bus, or railway engine or anything else) after an individual totally debases the act of doing so. In the case of West Midlands Trams, only 37 should carry Ozzy’s name!

  2. Nigel Pennick says:

Strange that so many trams carrie the same name.
