Edinburgh Trams engineering works to see service change this September

Services on the Edinburgh Trams network will be revised in the evening and early morning at the start of September to allow essential engineering works to take place. To minimise disruption the works will take place in 12 hour shifts overnight and during the work there will be no trams between Edinburgh Park Station and Edinburgh Airport.

The works are scheduled to take between 1900 on Tuesday 5th September and 0700 on Wednesday 6th September and then again from 1900 on Wednesday 6th September until 0700 on Thursday 7th September.

During these times trams will run at the normal frequency (up to every 10 minutes) between Newhaven and Edinburgh Park Station whilst a replacement bus service will then operate from there through to Edinburgh Airport calling at all stops. The replacement bus will run every 15 minutes during normal operating hours.

A normal service will operate during the day on all days of the work.

Andy Conway, Edinburgh Trams Head of Engineering, said: “These essential works on the overhead power lines and tracks are part of our scheduled maintenance programme that will ensure the continued safe and reliable running of the tramway. The works have been timed to minimise disruption for the majority of our customers, taking place over two 12-hour overnight shifts when fewer people are travelling with us.”
