In Pictures: Trackwork continues on Supertram

As we saw last week a period of rail replacement work is now underway on Stagecoach Supertram with the Hillsborough area the focus of attention. Getting underway from Monday 24th July the works will be continuing until Sunday 6th August with four distinct phases taking place. These latest photos come from phase two which has been close to Hillsborough Interchange.

Phase two started on Thursday 27th July and the Supertram website describes the extent of this work as being “Works will take place between Ripley Street and Forbes Road. Road closure at Hillsborough Interchange for traffic towards Middlewood.” As with all stages of the work no trams from the city will go beyond Shalesmoor with all BLUE route services terminating there whilst the YELLOW route runs as far as Shalesmoor outside of peak periods (Monday-Saturday daytimes basically) and Cathedral at other times.

Looking towards the city this view shows part of the site with work underway on replacing the track.

A closer-view showing the work taking place just to the city side of the Hillsborough crossover.

Work continues.
