Blackpool Tramway extension to see disruption on Promenade service

Work to complete the construction of the Blackpool Tramway extension up Talbot Road to a new terminus at Blackpool North Railway Station is to get underway once again this month and works at Talbot Square will see a disruption of services on the current Promenade tramway from Monday 24th May.

The official schedule on the Blackpool Council website states that tramway extension works will be taking place between May 2021 and the end of 2021 with the phases of works affecting tram services amongst the first to happen.

From Monday 24th May there will be disruption to both early morning and evening services. Early morning services will be affected on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with evening services affected on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There will be no disruption on Fridays or at weekends.

The following changes to the published timetables will take place:

Starr Gate to Fleetwood

On the affected days the first tram will leave Starr Gate for Fleetwood at 0600 with the last tram leaving Starr Gate for Fleetwood at 2000

Fleetwood to Starr Gate

On the affected days the first tram leaves Fleetwood at 0703 with the last tram back to Starr Gate at 2103.

During the disruption there will be additional buses running on the service 1 bus.

These service changes will be in place for up to three weeks (with any luck it won’t be the same kind of three weeks as the maintenance works on the tramway earlier this year!).
