Hillsborough Corner engineering work over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend

This article has been corrected since original publication.

Engineering works on the track at Hillsborough Corner throughout the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (29th to 31st May) means that no trams will be running to either Middlewood or Malin Bridge for those three days. During this period trams on the Yellow route (from Meadowhall) will all terminate at Shalesmoor with those on the Blue route (from Halfway) will either run to Cathedral or Shalesmoor.

The work will involve rail replacement at Hillsborough Corner (where the route to Malin Bridge diverges from the Yellow route out to Middlewood) with the scale of the work requiring all three days to ensure it is completed in time for a return to normal services on Tuesday 1st June.

What services will run over the weekend?

Yellow route will run from Middlewood to Shalesmoor over all three days

Blue route will run:

Halfway to Cathedral on Saturday 29th May (early morning and evening services will be extended to Shalesmoor)

Halfway to Shalesmoor on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May

The Purple route and Tram-Train service will be unaffected

Alternative transport?

There will be no dedicated tram replacement buses although Supertram tickets can be used on Stagecoach and First bus services in the affected areas. Details of these can be found on the Stagecoach Supertram website: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2021/may-2021/engineering-work-taking-place-over-the-bank-holiday-weekend-29-to-31-may

A normal tram service is due to resume from Tuesday 1st June.

The first HALFWAY should read Malin Bridge.

Thanks for the correction. I’d already corrected a later slip-up as I kept putting Halfway when I meant Malin Bridge but missed that one!
